Tamper Protection
Tamper Protection is a feature in Windows that helps protect against ransomware attacks by preventing malicious apps from disabling security measures, such as antivirus protection, firewall, and other security features. These types of attacks are often used by attackers to gain access to data and install malware. Additionally, it stops apps from disabling automatic actions on detected threats, suppressing notifications in the Windows Security app, and scanning archives and network files. This feature aims to make it harder for attackers to disable security measures and gain access to a system’s data.
Tamper Protection is available on the following operating systems:
- Windows 11
- Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session
- Windows 10 OS 1709, 1803, 1809, or later with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
- Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session
