Summary
Design disciplines connect core aspects of experience, explored in Chapter 5, with the various design roles and practices which are covered next. Some design disciplines such as car design, are specialized while others, such as graphic design, have a wide variety of applications. But across the board, they share a focus on establishing meaningful and lasting emotional connections between people and product, be it a building, a car or an appliance. They also share some methodologies, tools and techniques. Similarly, practitioners you will meet in the next chapter have specialized skillsets, and shared visions about the role of design and designers.
