L3 metering

The L3 metering extension enables administrators to assign labels to networks to facilitate the metering of the traffic traversing a virtual router. A metering label contains metering rules and is associated with a tenant. The following Neutron commands are specific to the L3 metering extension:

  • meter-label-create
  • meter-label-delete
  • meter-label-list
  • meter-label-rule-create
  • meter-label-rule-delete
  • meter-label-rule-list
  • meter-label-rule-show
  • meter-label-show

The Neutron metering agent can be installed on the node hosting the Neutron router with the following command:

# apt-get install neutron-metering-agent

The configuration file can be found at /etc/neutron/metering-agent.ini. The configuration and use of the Neutron metering agent is outside the scope of this book. For more information on the metering agent, refer to the blueprint at the following location:
