Summary
In this chapter, we learned the basic principles of meta-analysis and its role at the top of the evidence pyramid in both biostatistics and clinical research. We learned how to summarize data from multiple studies and how to evaluate the quality of individual studies. Finally, we learned how to interpret different meta-analysis plots and prepare for the example project, which will be the main topic of the next chapter.
In the next chapter, we will learn about the Python implementations of meta-analysis and interpret the results using a real-world dataset of oncology survival study examples.
