Using text, fonts, and the Clone and Smudge tools in Adobe Substance 3D Painter
At times you might want to type on your 3D model using different fonts, do some cloning, or smudge some already painted textures to create a different kind of effect. Let us type a Made by label, clone an existing texture, and smudge it to give it an aged look:
- Click on Add layer, create a new paintable layer, and rename it

- Go to the ASSETS panel and select the Brushes asset type, then select the brush you want to use; in this project, we will use a Basic Hard brush.
- Go to PROPERTIES - PAINT, then jump to the STENCIL settings and click on STENCIL. When the resources window pops up, type
font
in the search field, then select Font Libre Baskerville.
