I remember that when I was just a kid in the late '80s, all I had to look through files and folders on a PC was the text command interface of DOS. Then, one day, Norton Commander entered the picture, allowing me to navigate through files more visually – that was the first revolution. The second revolution took place in the late '90s when I got the ACDSee image viewer, allowing me to browse pictures on a hard drive without the need to open each one separately. The third and final revolution (so far anyway) came with Lightroom – I could forget about everything not photo-related when working on pictures and focus purely on managing my ever-growing collection of digital photographs.
