Scanning data using the Purview data catalog

Let's now learn how to scan data inside Azure Purview and how to create an Azure Purview data map and a data catalog with data insights. This will give you a unified experience for data cataloging and governance.

To extract the metadata, classification, and lineage from your existing data sources, we will be creating a data map for Azure Synapse SQL dedicated pool.

Azure Purview provides you with an intuitive UI that is very user-friendly to create your data map. A data map keeps your metadata up to date and with the help of the on-demand and schedule scan, you can identify and classify the type of data, including tagging data sensitivity.
