Mentioning others in comments
So far, we have seen how helpful it can be to use comments when collaborating on a document. However, a comment is only effective if the person it is intended for sees it. If you really need to get somebody's attention in your organization with a comment, you can @mention
them.
When you use the @
symbol before someone's name in a comment, they will receive an email, alerting them that someone has mentioned them in a document. The email will also contain a link to the comment in the document. @
mentioning only works with Word 365 and other Microsoft 365 apps, and you must be signed in to your Microsoft 365 account. @mention
does not work in Office 2019 or older versions. @mention
also works across different platforms, such as Android, iOS, and Mac.
