How we write, read, and use our data is the determining factor that will define which database type to use. There are generally two types of requirements for data storage in databases that require two very different approaches to storing data, and these are governed by two acronyms: Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, and Durability (ACID) and Basically Available, Soft state, Eventual consistency (BASE).
