Including bookmarks

Bookmarks are a handy navigation tool when they are added to PDF documents, but they can be especially beneficial for those with accessibility issues, making it easier for these users to navigate your document quickly and efficiently.

While InDesign’s table of contents can automatically generate Bookmarks, as we saw in Chapter 10, sometimes, you might want to manually generate bookmarks without relying on the table of contents option to do so.

In this recipe, we will look at how to manually create Bookmarks within your documents, allowing you to select items within the content and have them show up in the PDF Bookmarks panel. Additionally, we will look at how to rename your bookmarks, sort them, organize them in the order they appear, and nest them into logical groups.

Getting ready

In order to complete this recipe, simply open InDesign on your system and create a new document with 12 pages, as shown in the Creating a new document recipe of Chapter...
