Visual testing

Whether you are a web developer or a tester, there is a need to ensure that the application under development retains the look and feel that was intended at project conception. As a developer, you may want to verify that there are no visual aspects about your application that changed between releases. As a tester, you may want to validate that the application's user interface remains consistent between releases and is consistent with the design.

Functional testing can be used to check for visual aspects, such as validating that a button or an input box is present. However, this may involve a lot of code being written and, most of the time, will not allow you to test every aspect of the application, such as CSS changes when we use it to validate user interface elements.
