What other careers can you pursue?

Sales engineers develop a unique blend of technical know-how, customer-facing skills, and business acumen. There are various career paths available based on these skills, such as sales management, which would require leading a team of sales engineers and/or account executives and driving revenue growth.

Product management is another viable path for a sales engineer (see Chapter 12). Sales engineers work closely with customers and prospects to understand their needs and pain points, which is similar to a product manager gathering needs and requirements for developing a new product or feature.

Consulting is another career path that may be of interest to a sales engineer. This role is also very similar to the day-to-day role of a sales engineer, as consultants typically leverage their technical and strategic expertise to advise organizations on their cybersecurity solutions and program strategies.
