Importing data from on-premises systems
The Domo connector library is robust for pulling data into Domo, but sometimes, especially for non-cloud systems that sit behind on-premises firewalls, it is better to push data into Domo than to pull data into Domo. Domo Workbench is sometimes referred to as the Universal Connector because it can be used when a connector isn't available, or a firewall will prevent Domo connectors from accessing the source. Primarily, Workbench lets you query local databases directly via ODBC and push the results into the Domo cloud. It also lets you upload local files such as Excel, CSV, JSON, and XML, and access local applications such as Jira and Quickbooks. All Workbench jobs can run on a convenient job scheduler. It is extensible, via plugins, to protocols such as MDX as well.
So, let's walk through the process of getting Workbench up and running.
