Conventions used
There are a number of text conventions used throughout this book.
Code in text
: Indicates code words in text, database table names, folder names, filenames, file extensions, pathnames, dummy URLs, user input, and Twitter handles. Here is an example: “For example, if you want to install the abc_def
package on ROS Jazzy, then you will need to run sudo apt
install ros-jazzy-abc-def
.”
A block of code is set as follows:
#!/usr/bin/env python3 import rclpy from rclpy.node import Node
When we wish to draw your attention to a particular part of a code block, the relevant lines or items are set in bold:
entry_points={ 'console_scripts': [ "test_node = my_py_pkg.my_first_node:main" ], },
Any command-line input or output is written as follows:
$ sudo apt update $ sudo apt upgrade
Bold: Indicates a new term, an important word, or words that you see onscreen. For instance, words in menus or dialog boxes appear in bold. Here is an example: “To start the VM, double click on it in VirtualBox Manager, or select it and click on the Start button.”
