Introduction
Providing mail services contains a series of recipes that provides an introduction to build your very own CentOS based mail server solution. This guide is suitable for any local network and can be used as a starting point for taking your mail server online. However, unlike previous sections of this book, it is recommended that you work through this chapter, recipe by recipe in the order they are presented with the intention to enable a domain-wide MTA and test your SMTP configuration with Telnet, building a local POP3/SMTP server with Postfix and Dovecot, closing the open relay, enabling SMTP authentication, dealing with spam by configuring SASL, enabling the postfix header and body checks, and using Postfix and Dovecot to serve e-mail across virtual domains.
