Applying application level security
In the previous section, we discussed how to apply object level security. In this section, you will learn how to apply application level security.
In object level security, we set permissions for a specific object, while in application level security we define a set of actions and features that the user can use when accessing this application. We have many applications in SAP BO such as:
CMC
Universe designer
Information design tool
Web Intelligence
BI Launch Pad
Dashboards
Under each application, you will see a list of all the available actions and features. The user should have the proper access to application features, as well as the proper access to a specific object, in order to be able to utilize it. For example, we can give a user View on Demand access to a specific object, which enables them to edit that object, but still we can prevent them from using the drill functionality in any Web Intelligence report.
