Before you start using SPMT to migrate content to SharePoint Online, you'll need to have followed the steps in Chapter 16, Overview of the Migration Process, to identify the data sources (such as SharePoint content or file shares) to migrate.
In the next sections, we'll review the system requirements (both on-premises and SharePoint Online), as well as network requirements for the successful communication and migration of data.
Network
In order for migrations to be successful, you will need to work with your organization's network team to ensure the server running the migration tool is able to connect to the following endpoints:
