Deploying VCSA server components


In this recipe, we will install just the vCenter portion of VCSA and then connect it to the PSC that we created earlier. This installation uses the same download process as that of the PSC.

Getting ready

To step through this recipe, you will need an ESXi host with at least 2 CPUs and 4 GB of RAM free. You will also need a Windows, Linux, or Mac where you can run the installer. We will be running the installer from Windows. No other prerequisites are required.

How to do it...

These instructions are specific to the vSphere 6.5 VCSA installation. The 6.0 installation is done through a web page, but the steps are similar. Here are the steps to install PSC on your ESXi host:

  1. Download the VCSA ISO file from http://www.vmware.com/download.
  2. Mount the ISO file once it is downloaded.
  3. Using the CD, open the vcsa-ui-installer folder.
  4. Open the subfolder called win32. If you are running the installer on Linux or Mac, open the appropriate folder.
  5. Double-click on installer.exe.
