S3 can be divided into four distinct storage classes:
- S3 Standard: Provides the highest price per GB but lowest price per request
- S3 Infrequent Access: Provides a lower price per GB but has a higher price per request
- S3 One Zone-Infrequent Access: Provides a 20% saving over S3 IA by replicating only within one availability zone
- S3 Reduced Redundancy Storage (RRS): A cheaper version of S3 providing 99.99% durability and 99.99% availability of objects
- Glacier: The cheapest per GB solution, intended for archiving and long-term storage
