MongoDB is an open source document-oriented database management system (DBMS) that stores data in JSON-like documents called Binary JSON (BSON) – a binary representation of MongoDB's JSON-like documents that can be parsed more quickly than ordinary JSON. It is one of the most popular NoSQL database systems since 2009 that does not use tables and rows, in contrast with relational database management systems (RDBMSes).
