Importing an animated object

In this section, we will understand how to import an animated object. Every file with a keyframe animation (on both simple transformations or rig) or a backed simulation has to be considered an animated object.

In our journey in environment creation, we probably don’t need to import complex animated objects and we will learn how to create simple animations directly inside the Engine. But maybe you have experience in animation and have a lot of animated objects to import inside the Engine and use to populate your environment. For this reason, it is important to know the basics of how to manage an animated object.

The import process is the same as importing a Static Mesh asset. The Add or Import button or dragging and dropping will work also for animated objects.

When you import an animated object, the same Import Options window that we saw for Static Mesh Actors will be opened with some different options. All of the same options will work...
