Using the aggregation framework

The MongoDB aggregation framework allows you to group results into datasets upon which a series of operations can be performed. MongoDB aggregation uses a pipeline architecture whereby the results of one operation becomes the input to the next operation in the pipeline. The core of MongoDB aggregation is the collection-level aggregate() method.
