Defining interim plans
Interim plans are a type of baseline that concentrates on a specific feature of the project’s schedule, mainly the start and finish dates of tasks. They record and track the progress of a project at multiple points without overwriting the original baseline. This can be useful for the following:
- Frequent updates
- Progress tracking
- Focusing on dates (start and finish)
Interim plans offer a less detailed way of tracking project progress as compared to baselines. Choose to use an interim plan over a baseline when your project does not require detailed tracking as it focuses solely on the timeline. Also, it is helpful where the scope and deliverables are expected to change frequently or where periodic reviews lead to changes in the project schedule, which would be easier to set and view than with a baseline.
To set an interim plan, proceed as follows:
- Click the Project tab | Set Baseline | Set Baseline.
- Change the default...
