Getting to know the DSB
The DSB is a superset of a manufacturing service bus. The bus provides real-time data exchange between all parties involved in the planning production, distribution, service, insurance, and so on. This multi-lateral and collaborative data-sharing principle is fundamental to creating transparent value chains, as shown in Figure 9.10.

Data availability in real time enables us to visualize supply chain fluctuations, respond to them, and minimize risks in supply chains. This central data highway also helps hone data-driven Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for any issues in the field. Actual operations and performance data, if available to the manufacturer, can help optimize product design and take corrective actions in case of future production.
