If you’ve followed all of the guidance provided in Quantifiably Better, you are probably feeling like you just earned a degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and possibly Business Analytics. In some regards, you have.

I-O Psychology is the study of human behavior in the workplace, while Business Analytics is all about studying the business data in an organization, especially through the usage of statistical techniques. The role of the HR leader is to bridge this gap. That is, to change people’s behavior so that better business outcomes are generated.

But there is a secondary and more personal purpose that I think we also share. We both want to make people’s lives quantifiably better.

We like to focus on others. We put our own causes last. Helping others brings us great joy. When we marry our work to this personal journey, it develops an amazing camaraderie that excites us to the core.
