I had the opportunity to read through this book after reading through the CompTIA A+ Practice Test Core 1 (220-1101), written by the same authors. This current book, which covers Core 2, closely aligns with their Core 1 book, so if you plan to sit for A+, it is a must that you purchase both of these books.Having said that, I enjoyed going through this book. The Core 2 book is well-written, and I appreciated that the questions provided were understandable. I also appreciated the answers provided for all the practice questions. They give a clear and concise explanation of what answer is right and why, and they also explain why the other answer choices are wrong. This is important because when you test, you don't know exactly how CompTIA will ask those questions. When they provide the reasoning behind the incorrect answers, they explain why, which means you are learning multiple facts for every question being asked in the book.I like how the book is outlined. Each of the domains are listed in order, as presented in the CompTIA Core 2 Exam Objectives. Furthermore, the objectives each have their own list of questions asked, so you will clearly be well-versed on every Core 2 objective if you go through every question in the book. This also affords you the opportunity to identify gaps in your knowledge, and you can go back to your CompTIA studies and perform accurate revision, and then return back to this book and see if you're able to improve in those weak areas.I also like that at the end of the book, there is a full, mock exam of multiple choice questions. The answers for the mock test are also included, as well as full explanations. Having a test at the end with random questions taken from all domains allows you to test under simulated testing conditions as well.Similar to my Core 1 strategy, I decided to run through the questions under the objectives right away to see what gaps I had without looking at the answers. I saw where my weaknesses are, then went back to my CompTIA studies and re-studied those objectives. I went back to the book again and completed the questions again under the objectives and saw that my scores were higher. That second time, I did read through the explanations to see what mistakes I was still making. I was able to hone in on my reading on the CompTIA materials once again to see if I could lessen the gap anymore. I then went back to the book and completed the exam questions a third time. The third time, as I answered the questions, I also quizzed myself on the other answer choices so I could reinforce the additional knowledge. I knew I would score much higher at that point, so that was ok. But then after that, I completed the full mock exam at the end of that. Since those questions were new, I didn't know how I would score, but I was happy to see that my score for the mock exam was relatively high. I reviewed the answers, waited about a day, and then I was able to take the mock exam again and find that I had a better understanding of what was being asked.I think if you purchase this book, you will be ready for the Core 2 exam. The questions are on point with the types of questions CompTIA asks, and better yet, you can pinpoint your weaknesses and make sure you've put in the adequate time towards those weak areas. For sure, you need to study the CompTIA books out there first to gain the knowledge, but then once you've done that, most definitely, you should make this a mandatory necessity for passing the Core 2. For your highest success of achieving the A+, definitely be sure to get the Core 1 book written by the same authors, where they use the same strategy for presenting the questions. You can't go wrong with this book.
