Cloud

The standard cloud deployment models are well-known – public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud. We would be remiss to not mention the new distributed deployment model, which is described in Chapter 5. The cloud deployment model choice depends on the industry for which the edge solution is designed. As an example, the banking industry has stringent requirements on where data can be stored and even how it is stored. With such requirements in mind, the only option then is to use a private cloud.

A private, public, or hybrid cloud model decision must be made based on bandwidth, latency, and cost. Always consider the optimal use between a physical data center, an on-premises cloud, a public cloud, or an acceptable combination.
