A post-smart building assessment

Once a building assessment is completed and all the systems identified, a comprehensive list of these systems and assets should be developed, capturing the following information:

  • The location, system vendor name and model number, age, condition, any software along with version/release information, and the expected useful life should be recorded.
  • Note any systems that are reaching (or exceeding) their expected operational life
  • Indicate any condition-related or operational-related issues
  • Identify compliance-related issues that may need to be corrected
  • List any functional concerns related to the systems and equipment, and identify any repairs that may be needed
  • Estimate the cost to fix issues or upgrade equipment
  • Prioritize any problems identified according to the severity level
  • Identify any remedial actions to improve functionality, including renovation or modernization upgrades
