Case study – building a directory with custom fields
Custom fields might be used for every type of content, from a news website to a recipe collection website, as well as to build an online directory of contacts or businesses. In this case study, we will consider the following scenario: build a directory of professors for a university website. It’s very common for universities to provide an address book for their professors, along with a page for each of them that contains a picture, contact data, studio address, and other useful information.
Planning the structure
To build the directory, we will need a category for the articles that we will call Professors, a group of fields called Professors, and several custom fields:
