Throughout this book, the priority has been on Microsoft Project. In this chapter, we will instead focus on the project life cycle and map Project to it. This chapter will answer the question, how will an experienced practitioner use Project across the entire project life cycle? We are not interested in discussing the nitty-gritty details of ribbons, buttons, and dialog boxes, although we will provide the references for you to find the detailed discussions of these topics. Rather, our interest now is to put together all the best practices, pitfalls, tools, tips, techniques, and concepts in this book together for a big-picture view of common practice when working with Project in the real world.
