Summary

In this chapter, you've been introduced to the IEEE IoT Harmonization effort. You've been presented with a vision of the Smart Society, what its driving forces are, and some of its perils. You've been given an overview of the standardization effort required, how XMPP plays a role in future Smart Societies and the need for economic feedback models to make the Smart Society a reality, and what new business roles will appear. In the next chapter, we will discuss security for the IoT.
