Key benefits

  • Discover over 200 coding interview problems and their solutions to help you secure a job as a Java developer
  • Work on overcoming coding challenges faced in a wide array of topics such as time complexity, OOP, and recursion
  • Get to grips with the nuances of writing good code with the help of step-by-step coding solutions

Description

Java is one of the most sought-after programming languages in the job market, but cracking the coding interview in this challenging economy might not be easy. This comprehensive guide will help you to tackle various challenges faced in a coding job interview and avoid common interview mistakes, and will ultimately guide you toward landing your job as a Java developer. This book contains two crucial elements of coding interviews - a brief section that will take you through non-technical interview questions, while the more comprehensive part covers over 200 coding interview problems along with their hands-on solutions. This book will help you to develop skills in data structures and algorithms, which technical interviewers look for in a candidate, by solving various problems based on these topics covering a wide range of concepts such as arrays, strings, maps, linked lists, sorting, and searching. You'll find out how to approach a coding interview problem in a structured way that produces faster results. Toward the final chapters, you'll learn to solve tricky questions about concurrency, functional programming, and system scalability. By the end of this book, you'll have learned how to solve Java coding problems commonly used in interviews, and will have developed the confidence to secure your Java-centric dream job.

Who is this book for?

This book is for students, programmers, and employees who want to be invited to and pass interviews given by top companies. The book assumes high school mathematics and basic programming knowledge.

The author brings to the table a lot of soft and hard skill tips for someone that wants to land a java job and there's some room also for more advanced developers to review new syntactic sugar from recent JDK's! I've found it very easy to read and useful, thus I recommended this book 10/10!

This book is appropriately dense with useful information and examples. Those seeking a career as a Java developer should shape and scope their expectations prior to submitting their first job application. The book’s initial chapters provide the necessary insights for readers to achieve that goal. As someone who has been on both sides of Java interviews, I disagree with the author’s opinion of industry certifications stating that, “. . . most of the time they don’t pay off the effort.” His tips on establishing a public/social presence is priceless and something that interviewees should heed. His advice on resumes is excellent. The bulk of the book contains questions and problems organized by concept or functional area. I recommend reviewing the several hundred pages of questions and coding examples. If there is a concept you are unfamiliar with or a problem that you cannot solve or understand, conduct more research and, in the words of the author, learn, code, learn code. . . “Final note, if you want to learn how to program in Java, this book is not for you. On the other hand, if you are proficient in Java and are looking for a job, this book will be an amazing asset for you.

I have recently started going through this book and I have been pleasantly surprised by how much is packed into the book. I was only expecting it to have basic interview questions and ways to respond along with a few different coding questions. There are a ton of explanations and pre-interview items to prepare with. There are also a ton of different coding questions with the code listed out and explained. The questions also have companies that use them listed above them, so if you're trying to focus on questions for a specific company you can, or just go through multiple questions. This book is great for beginners who are trying to get their first job, along with experts trying to advance their career.

I have enjoyed data structure and algorithms books such as "Algorithm - Cormen" the greatest, "Thinking Data Structure in Java" excellent, "Classic Computer Science Problems in Java" and "Cracking coding interview" very good, but "The Complete Coding Interview Guide in Java" is updated and give more advanced subjects.I really recommend it but before read it I also believe that read "Java Coding Problems" because it adds a lot of exercises that it has helped me a lot to cover the most important areas related to DS and Algo.
