Illustrates to design and develop design patterns using Oracle SOA provides and these best practices can be beneficial in completing systems integration projects.Each and every chapter of this book is written with the intent to:Find the root cause of the problem and analyze it in strong relevance to the SOA design principles.Speculate the decomposition of the problem into smaller, more manageable parts that could be implemented as separate atomic components or services.Identify the ways of standardizing the decomposed components/services, focusing on the improvement of their reuse.Propose various vendor-neutral solutions (not exactly Oracle) based on the identified components/services and, again, diligently analyze them using the SOA design principles, focusing on the desired SOA characteristics.Present the most optimal solution based on an Oracle platform and compare it to other alternatives proposed during the analysis phase. After reading the book, I have finally found a fantastic source of SOA delivery experience concentrated in one book. It concentrates a lot of delivery experience in such an indispensable reference book. It doesn’t contain only integration patterns, but it also provides a set of best practices and recommendations very useful from the delivery perspective.When I was reading it, I was constantly saying “yes, he is right…” and “yeap, very good point” and “yeah.. I also had this problem in a project”...It is important to remark the initial chapter, that basically lands the theoretical SOA principles and concepts into our technological land, making them understandable and comprehensive from a really practical perspective, and, the most important thing, easy to read.

As a SOA Architect, I am always looking for relevant information, and the choices for SOA are relatively limited. So I had guarded optimism on this book. Although it is based on the Oracle SOA Platform, and my company is not using the Oracle SOA Platform, I found many of the Patterns to be both useful and in some cases unique. I highly recommend this book whether you are using the Oracle SOA Platform or not.

This book is highly recommended for architects and SOA Lead developers. Sergey and his team has done a commendable job in packing his experiences in orderly fashion. Chapter 1-3 refresh you with SOA principles, patterns & framework. If you are into oracle fusion then Chapter-2 provides you enough information on various oracle products, that complements the previous chapter. I found it useful where it explains how oracle product support various standards like WS-ReliableMessaging, WS-Addressing etc and its use in pattern implementation. Chapter-3 helps in setting the realistic expectation of oracle soa suite. This will also help the Lead developers to guide and mentor their team to optimally use and achieve right balance. Information about security layers, SOA Vulnerabilities and design rules mitigating risk are covered in depth. Overall a good book with many practical insight.
