Services Core
From a market perspective, SASE is a secure communications service that solves many of the existing issues with legacy systems. In reality, SASE is a collection of services that each performs an important vertical function, but the value of SASE is when these services are integrated into a single cohesive SASE service.
The core services were initially defined as SD-WAN, CASB, SWG, FWaaS, and ZTNA, as follows:
- SD-WAN is the software-defined secure data forwarding through an encrypted tunnel service.
- CASB is the manager of cloud application security for both access and data loss prevention.
- SWG is the tool that ensures only secure access is used between users and the internet.
- FWaaS is essentially a cloud-based firewall that can be used for both legacy and next-generation firewall capabilities.
