Applying a GA for search and optimization
After introducing numerical optimization techniques in Chapter 7, Using Simulation to Improve and Optimize Systems, we should be adequately familiar with optimization methodologies.
In the search for a solution to a problem, one of the challenges that we find ourselves facing often is being able to coordinate a series of aspects that, although in contrast with each other, must be able to coexist in the best possible way. A researcher will be called upon to implement a series of compromises between the various possibilities that are presented to them to be able to optimize a characteristic, chosen based on the constraints imposed by the remaining variables of the problem considered.
