Summary

In this book, we started from some very basic concepts of automation by comparing Ansible to the other common options such as manual procedures, bash scripting, Puppet and Chef are available. We then moved on and looked at how to write YAML files, since this is the format that's used by Ansible, and how to install Ansible. We then moved on and created our first Ansible-driven installation (a basic couple of HTTP servers backed by a database server). We then added features to leverage Ansible's features, such as variables, templates, and task delegation. Then, we moved on and saw how Ansible can help you in cloud environments such as AWS, Digital Ocean, and Azure. We then moved on to analyze how Ansible can be used to trigger notifications, as well as in various deployment scenarios.
