Troubleshooting LookML errors

The LookML Validator serves as a comprehensive tool for LookML code validation, meticulously scrutinizing the syntax of object definitions (dimensions, measures, etc.) and established relationships (joins). It examines the entire LookML code within a model, ensuring that all elements adhere to the expected structure and formatting. The LookML Validator’s scope does not extend to verifying SQL parameters associated with LookML objects (such as SQL derived tables). However, it does validate the ${} fields within the SQL parameter.

Getting ready

In this section, we will work in the LookML project. To go to your LookML project if you’re on the Looker home page, find the Develop tab (usually in the menu on the left), click on it, then click on Projects. On the LookML projects page, find your lb_thelook_ecommerce project and click on it. Open one of the views in the LookML code editor – for example, events.view.
