Appendix A. The Future of Mobility

As you have completed your journey through this book, I have demonstrated the importance of mobility within the enterprise. Mobility has grown significantly over the past 7 years since the release of the original iPhone. Traditionally, enterprises were able to better control and manage smart devices that they were providing to end users as they typically owned them, especially the familiar Blackberry with their enterprise deployment and management. Within the last 7 years, there has been a significant shift from enterprises that dictated the use of mobile device to the end user to now dictating the use due to the consumer market of smart phones. Now that everyone is able to afford and purchase a smart device, the push to do more with smart devices in the enterprise is creating new challenges for organizations.
