The Zabbix proxy and Zabbix performance

Well, when version 1.6 was released, it gave us a new feature—a certain Zabbix proxy. The users started to explore it really soon. Those who had difficulties in monitoring remote locations before now had a smile of satisfaction and immediately installed Zabbix proxy on their environments.

Zabbix proxy didn't have an approach related to supporting Zabbix's performance. Even today, some users and training participants are surprised to realize that Zabbix proxy can be a strong performance ally.

As the main objective of Zabbix proxy was to access the remote networks that the Zabbix server couldn't reach, it was created with a single stream. Zabbix proxy was the one that opened connections with the Zabbix server, and was the one that delivered the collected connections to the Zabbix server or fetched new configuration data from it. In other words, the connections were only from the inside out—from the Zabbix proxy to the Zabbix server.
