Summary
In this chapter, we have defined and introduced what sniffing is and how it can be used in an attack and to protect ourselves from an attack. We discussed the different types of sniffing available to us. We discussed how to leverage sniffing in our efforts to attack actively and passively. We also gave a quick refresher on DHCP and covered a lot of information on ARP. We talked about hardware versus software. We also covered the various types of assaults and attacks, such as DHCP assaults, MAC attacks, ARP poisoning, and DNS poisoning.
Up next, we'll dive into hacking wireless networks and devices.
