Summary
In this chapter, we learned the basics of clinical study designs and how they are related to biostatistics. We also learned about the different types of clinical studies and their use in the pharmaceutical industry and medical research. We also learned about clinical trials as experimental types of clinical studies and their use in the drug discovery and development pipeline. Finally, we learned about the regulatory aspects of approving drugs and the role of biostatistics in them.
In the next chapter, we will be discussing and learning about one specific type of study frequently used in clinical research: survival studies.
