Accessibility by default – the JooA11y tool
Joomla 4 ensures accessibility out of the box; in fact, its default backend and frontend templates are compliant with the AA Level of the W3C Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. This ensures that both the frontend and the backend of the website are usable by anyone, even with the use of screen readers and similar assisting technologies.
Beyond the technology and the layouts, the most important part that should be made accessible is the content that is produced and loaded by website administrators and other people, depending on the type and size of the website. This is also the hardest part because considering accessibility rules and guidelines is not that easy.
To help with this, Joomla includes a very useful tool, called JooA11y, which supports website operators in producing accessible content.
