Introduction

The current chapter is going to address problems specific to the popular frameworks that Kotlin uses most often. In general, it is going to focus on Android platform-specific aspects and asynchronous UI programming with coroutines both on the Android and JVM frameworks, such as JavaFX and Swing. It will also guide you through writing effective unit tests for the JVM platform using the JUnit framework (https://junit.org/junit5/). The recipes related to unit-testing will include also more advanced topics, such as mocking dependencies with the mockito-kotlin (https://github.com/nhaarman/mockito-kotlin) library, testing asynchronous code based on the coroutines framework, and working with assertions provided by the standard library.
