Identifying the appropriate licensing for guest access
Guest access is included with all Microsoft 365 Business and Enterprise plans and additional licenses are not required. In Microsoft Teams, guest access can be enabled or disabled from the Teams admin center. However, the overriding control for guest access must be set in Azure AD using B2B external collaboration settings.
Although there is no specific license subscription for guest access, inviting external users into your tenant as guests does incur some costs that you need to be aware of. Authenticating unique guest users over a calendar month period determines the cost of guest user activity. Previously, this was billed on a 1:5 ratio, where a single Azure AD Premium license was required for five guest users.
Next, we'll look at the licensing for calling, Phone System, and resource accounts for Microsoft Teams.
