Conventions used
There are a number of text conventions used throughout this book.
Code in text
: Indicates code words in text, database table names, folder names, filenames, file extensions, pathnames, dummy URLs, user input, and Twitter handles. Here is an example: “Blocking files with file extensions such as .exe
, .hta
, .js
, or .iso
is a good start.”
A block of code is set as follows:
"policyRule": { "if": { "allOf": [ { "field": "location", "notIn": "norwayeast }, { "field": "location", "notEquals": "global" }, ] }, "then": { "effect": "deny"
Any command-line input or output is written as follows:
$varHours = 72 Get-GPO -All | Where {((Get-Date)-[datetime]$_.ModificationTime).Hours -lt $varHours}
Bold: Indicates a new term, an important word, or words that you see onscreen. For instance, words in menus or dialog boxes appear in bold. Here is an example: “In the configuration portal, go to Customization | Policy Management, and then click Create to start the wizard.”
