Creating future action plans
Constant improvement, the basic rule of a rockstar SRE, should be the force driving plans for future actions. We also should be openly discussing with teams the risk of continuing without making these remediations, including product, development, and even security that is required. Be prepared to hear, “no, we can’t do that” – sometimes, that’s okay, but like anything involving politics, you must pick your battles. Not everything can be a priority; otherwise, there would be no priorities.
Immediate follow-up
These are items to be immediately followed up, such as bug fixes, alerting updates, and monitoring enhancements. In fact, when I add immediate follow-up items, I often talk about the small level of effort when applicable to bring simplicity to the requests.
