Identifying the problem
When speaking about BIM projects, our attention is usually focused on compiling updated schedules or drawings to better comply with technical project deliveries. Of course, these scopes are all essential steps to achieve in our professional environment. Still, in this case, we will set ourselves the goal of expanding (with no maintenance costs) our level of digital data management skills.
Taking advantage of our digital environment, we will build a monitoring system on top of our BIM models, focusing our attention on usage, performance, and activities related to our project files.
After this quick introduction, let's go straight to the environment setup. First, we will need to configure Visual Studio to import the required Revit APIs. Also, we will check and install some other frameworks and libraries as these are necessary for the plugin to work. Enough talk here. I'll see you in the next section.
