Extending and working with sitemap and command bar
Finally, among the first things we can customize to extend to Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement applications are the sitemap and ribbon.
But before we go into detail about how we can extend it, let’s understand what it is and what the importance of working with the sitemap in a Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement application is.
The sitemap defines how users will navigate through an application. The sitemap will define the areas enabled to be accessed by the user interface, becoming a fundamental aspect of the user experience when working with the application. The sitemap structure has three levels:
- Areas: Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement applications can have one or multiple areas. Areas separate the application into sections containing groups and sub-areas.
- Groups: Groups are part of areas and serve to group subtasks in a logical and convenient way for users.
