Working with basic table calculations
Table calculations in Tableau are special calculations that allow you to modify the data to get the percentage of a total, running totals, moving averages, and differences. Table calculations can only be applied to measures (for a dimension to be used, it needs to be transformed into a measure – for example, CNT[Dimension]). Table calculations can be made in the Marks, Rows, or Columns section.
Basic table calculations are out-of-the-box calculations that do not require significant effort from the user to generate. They are made available by right-clicking a measure in the Rows, Columns, or Marks section.
There are so many options, but for the purposes of this exam, you will need to understand the following five options:
- Running Total: Provides a cumulative calculation rather than restarting every dimension.
