Summary
In this chapter, we learned how to understand biological variables and experiments. These are some of the most important aspects of biostatistics, since most of the analysis relates to them. Also, we learned about confounders and latent variables in biology research, why it’s important to control them, and how to improve the interpretation of the results. Finally, the last topic we learned was how to validate biological data, which is probably one of the most important parts of any biostatistical analysis, this time including both biological and statistical knowledge.
In the next chapter, you will learn how to implement actual biostatistical analysis in specific areas of biology, utilizing both the knowledge you gained in this chapter and Python coding.
